An ident is a moving image or logo that it shown before a programme or movie. The purpose of an ident is to advertise the channel/production company to the viewers and it should also have some link to what is shown after, for example it should connote the same genre. The design of an ident is important as it needs to entertain and inform the audience. For this to be successful it needs to interact with the audience which is done through all aspects of mise-en-scene. The tempo and the density is also important when thinking of designing an ident.
I am going to look at three different idents. Two will be a companies ident that generally release thriller movies and one will be a companies ident that do not release thriller movies. This will help me with my coursework as it will give me an opportunity to get ideas from existing idents and understand the conventions of idents so mine can be a successful one.
