Location
The location is very different in all three opening sequences...
COLLATERAL
- Airport
- Familiar location to audience
- Known to have high level of security - ties in with conventions of thriller, unknown identifications etc
- Exciting and hectic atmosphere which could hide any business that goes on
LIMITLESS
- Apartment
- Unknown location which makes the audience ask questions - 'Countryside? City?'
- It's empty which makes the audience cautious as its not 'normal' circumstances
- Very modern, up to date with living
SWORDFISH
- Unknown location
- Very much focuses on the character
- Nothing is revealed to the audience which makes them want to carry on watching
Costume
The costumes are all very similar in all three opening sequences. A man wearing a suit is very conventional of the thriller genre. It gives them a higher sense of authority and makes them seem more powerful.
