Rubicon is a TV series which started in 2010 about a New York City-based federal intelligence agency. I like this title sequence as it sets the genre and gives clues to the audience about the theme.
1. The colour theme used makes it feel like a thriller straight away. Black is a conventional colour used in the thriller genre as it connotes danger and power, which are conventional themes in thrillers. On the other hand, the yellow isn't such a typical colour used in the thriller genre as it connotes happiness. In this case the yellow connotes importance, which works well in this shot as it contrasts with the black. The circled numbers indicate the planning or solution to a plot, giving clues to the audience.
2. Again, the colours are very conventional. The font also suits the thriller genre as it is in capitals and stands out.
3. This shot introduces more themes and also suggests a sub-genre. The dollar note suggests it could be a crime thriller.
4. This shot links back to the first shot as the circled numbers indicate the planning or solution to a plot. The circled numbers suggest importance, especially as the colour used is yellow which is a bright colour that stands out.
5. This birds eye view shot is very effective as it achieves two things. It shows the audience that the program is set in an urban location, which is a convention of the thriller genre, and it also suggests a puzzle that needs to be solved.
6. The newspaper article in this shot also suggests it's a crime thriller. The crossed out parts connote some kind of plot.
7. This crossword suggests that the narrative is based on clues which lead to important answers.
8. This is very similar to the first shot as similar factors are in the frame of the shot such as numbers and letters and it has the same colour theme.
9. The corners are much darker, making the audience focus on the centre of the frame which is where the most important piece of information is.
